Koderma Woman Found Dead: Dowry Harassment Allegations Surface in Jaynagar Case
Koderma: A 25-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Nandodih village under Jaynagar police station limits of the district on Wednesday. The deceased Archana Pandit was married since 2020 and was a mother of two daughters. She was found dead inside the bathroom with marks around her neck.Vikar Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Jaynagar police station, said the body was sent to Koderma Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination for determining the cause of her death.Archana’s brother Anil said, “She was married to Santosh Pandit in 2020. The couple had two daughters. Their marriage was peaceful until disputes surfaced a few months ago.” Archana’s father Basudev Pandit however claimed that Santosh and his parents Suresh and Jirwa Devi had been harassing for dowry of Rs 2 lakh. He also stated that Archana was pregnant with her third child at the time of her death.The family said they received a phone call early Wednesday morning claiming that Archana had died after a fall. However, after reaching the house and seeing rope marks on her neck, they suspected murder.
“Police have lodged an FIR under suitable sections and investigation is underway,” SP Kumar Shivashish said.Talking to TOI, he said raids were being conducted to nab the accused, who are currently absconding. He added that police were probing the case from all possible angles and “anyone involved in crime will not be spared.”
